The pavilion at Howden Bowls Club.

Renovation for bowls pavilion

The bowls pavilion at the Ashes is getting a fresh lick of paint, with renovation and painting over a three-week period starting on Thursday August 13.

The cost is being covered by Howden Bowls Club, who use the site on almost a daily basis.

It is the start of an exciting period for the Bowls Club, with a £46,000 investment seeing new drainage and watering systems added and better access to the greens (our original news story on this is here).

This work, which is funded by grants as well as funding from the Bowls Club, is due to take place in September.

The bowls area is one of the most-used areas of the park, with the Bowls Club having more than 100 members and allowing non-members to play.

They hold open sessions every Tuesday afternoon – to take part just make sure you are at the main green and ready to go at 2pm.
