Heritage Lottery Fund look at Ashes

The Ashes Playing Field Trust (APFT) welcomed a representative of the Heritage Lottery Fund to our park on Wednesday December 2 to see for themselves the potential of our site. APFT are hoping to secure funding from the HLF for future development of the park.

Although these plans were in place before the iconic cricket pavilion burnt down earlier in 2015, this has added increased urgency and focus to it.

As well as Katharine Boardman from the HLF, APFT trustees met with landscape architect and Paul Varney from the charity Groundwork whom we are partnering with for the scheme, having previously worked with them to secure funding for the Daphne D’Ark Playpark which opened this summer.

Groundwork representative Paul Varney has already held two workshops with interested parties to establish what kind of facilities we would like to see in the park, with the next step to make the concept drawings available to the public and to have an open consultation.
