Help the Ashes when shopping online
The Ashes Playing Field Trust is inviting its supporters to help maintain its iconic 17-acre site by signing up to easyfundraising.org.uk and raising funds when shopping online or just by searching the web.
Supporters register to help the Trust and whenever they shop through the site with any of the 2,700 retailers listed on easyfundraising.org.uk, and the retailer gives a small percentage of what’s been spent back to the Trust to say thank you for shopping with them.
Please do not buy something or spend more just because it is with these firms – and do make sure you look in Howden’s town centre stores too – but if you are going to shop with these major national retailers then we can earn a percentage at no extra cost to you.
Many high street names are now involved including Amazon, John Lewis, eBay and Tesco giving causes and supporters a great opportunity to raise funds.
The Trust is one of thousands of causes across the UK which has benefitted from more than £5 million in donations raised through easyfundraising, with more than half a million supporters signed up to the site.
The cash has been raised since the Staffordshire-based company launched eight years ago in 2005. Supporters shop through the site to earn cash donations from retailers for their cause.
The company was set up by Ian Woodroffe, a former telecoms account manager, who, while recovering from cancer, wanted to use the boom in internet shopping to help cash strapped charities generate much needed funds.
“I am delighted Ashes Playing Field Trust has signed up to easyfundraising. We wish them the best of luck in their fundraising,” he said.
