Briggs memorial gets facelift

We were represented at Howden Minster recently (Sunday April when the restored memorial to Charles Briggs was unveiled.

Mr Briggs had a huge impact on Howden, donating the land for the Ashes, the Shire Hall and the stained glass window in the Minster – our park simply would not exist without his generosity.

The Briggs family’s commitment to the Ashes went far beyond the initial purchase of land, with a lot of the original running costs coming from them and Mr Briggs even buying property in the marketplace to create space for the main entrance from the centre of the town.
