Ashes awarded Bags of Help grant from Tesco
We are delighted to confirm we will be among the first recipients of Tesco’s Bags Of Help initiative which they launched following the introduction of a mandatory 5p charge for carrier bags in large stores.
We will receive at least £8,000, and up to £12,000, to get some extra play equipment for the Daphne D’Ark Playpark. This has been one of the busiest areas of our park since it opened last summer.
Bags of Help offers community groups and projects in each of Tesco’s 390 regions across the UK a hare of revenue generated from the five pence charge levied on single-use carrier bags.
Members of the public will be invited to vote in the Goole store from February 27 until March 6 to decide who should receive which award.
This means that every time you have paid for a carrier bag in Tesco you have contributed to our park. Please consider voting for us.
Tesco is running the scheme with enviromental charity Groundwork, who have already helped us secure funding worth well over £100,000 for improvements to the park such as our play area, multi-use games area and bowls greens.
