£150 up via Co-Op purchases!

Local residents have raised more than £150 towards maintaining and developing the Ashes just by doing their shopping in the Co-Op store in town.

The Ashes have been selected as one of three causes supported in the area, with shoppers who live in the area able to select us as their preferred choice to receive a percentage of profit on their purchases.

Money raised from these purchases is being ring fenced to go towards updating the entrance to the park from Hailgate.

During 2020 the park has been a place of real refuge and solace for the local community, and with several fundraising events having to be postponed due to the pandemic this will provide vital revenue for the charity-run park.

You can make sure money raise from your shopping goes to the Ashes by signing in on their website or mobile app and selecting Ashes Playing Field Trust. We are one of three local good causes Co-Op members can choose to support.

The Ashes is maintained by grants and fundraising, in contrast to most parks which are council-run, and have seen our projected income drop significantly due to the global pandemic which saw us forced to cancel a number of fundraising events.
